Consultative meeting between the security authorities, journalists and media professionals in Marib

Today, The National Organization of Yemeni Reporters "Sada" and Musaala for Human Rights held a consultative meeting between the security authorities, journalists and media professionals in Marib Governorate, to discuss ways to overcome the difficulties and challenges facing the work of media professionals in the field and how to overcome them.
The meeting comes within the activities of the Sanid project to enhance community peace in cooperation with the Marib Governorate Police and with the support of the Saferworld organization.
In the speech of the executing authorities, the head of Sada Organization Youssef Hazib said: "Despite all the dangers that were and are still threatening the journalist in most of the governorates, especially by outlaw armed groups, Marib has remained a safe haven for journalists for years and has emerged as a safe space for anyone looking for Salvation and liberation from oppression and oppression and longing for freedom.
He added, "We have noticed during the recent period the recurrence of problems or misunderstandings and errors that occur between the security services and journalists as a result of unjustified care or without awareness and knowledge," indicating that Sada and Musaala Organizations have striven to convene and make this qualitative meeting between the elite and leaders of society a success, appreciating the rapid response. Officials in the local authority and security agencies in the province.
Hazeb called for bridging the gap in the relationship between journalists and the security services, calling for the meeting to be an opportunity and a win to come up with a coordination mechanism to facilitate work and enhance cooperation between the two parties.
For his part, the Marib Deputy Governor , Abd Rabbo Moftah, said - at the opening of the meeting - that "everyone is keen to keep Marib as a safe haven for Yemenis and a home for press and media freedoms. The media is the other backup to protect the homeland and the citizen."
The deputy governor added, "Marib was distinguished for many factors, including security and freedom, as it embraced everyone from different orientations, and the security environment provided a good environment for media work, stressing the need to preserve these gains by investigating accuracy and truth, spreading awareness, and warding off rumors exploited by destructive forces targeting security." Governorate, appreciating the efforts of the media and their role in maintaining societal peace.
He noted the need for everyone to turn to dialogue and discussion to overcome any problems or disagreements that may occur as a natural result of the war environment imposed by the Houthi group on the Yemenis.
For his part, the Director General of Marib Governorate Police, Brigadier General Yahya Humid, called on journalists and human rights activists to contribute to ensuring community security through their practices and media coverage, stressing the need for journalists to investigate and verify the validity of their information by preserving the honor of the profession.
Humid stressed the need to strengthen continuous communication between the security authorities and journalists and work to solve problems and difficulties in all their forms, in line with the visions that emphasize the need to identify official security sources to be referred to, such as the official spokesperson or the information center of the security authorities.
The Marib Governorate Police Director touched on a number of proposals that he recommended to be included in the outcomes of the meeting, which would achieve its goal.
On the other hand, the director of the media office in Marib, Awad Huwaisik, affirmed the office's readiness to provide all possible facilities in order to facilitate the work of journalists in the governorate, calling on the media outlets working in Marib and the correspondents to submit an official memorandum from the authorities they work for to the office.
It is worth noting that the consultative meeting came out with many recommendations and proposals that would facilitate the task of journalists, including: the necessity of having identification documents approved by the media office in the governorate, in addition to identifying the parties that the journalist can communicate with in case he encounters any problem, in addition to facilitating the work of Journalists to cover accidents and events smoothly and easily, and to give them the right to obtain information and to enhance the presence of the security media in the governorate, especially on social media as part of the tools for quick access by journalists to information, in addition to other axes, determinants, recommendations and proposals that were made, as it was done at the end of the meeting Announcing the agreement to form a committee consisting of one representative of each of the Sada Organization, the Information Office and the security authorities to work on it and submit it to the concerned authorities for approval and implementation.
