Civil society organizations demand legal accountability and the release of journalists
On the International Day to End Impunity: Civil society organizations demand the consolidation of the foundations of legal accountability and the release of journalists
During the period from 2015 to 2022, about 27 journalists were killed in three Yemeni governorates (Taiz, Aden, and Sana'a) at the hands of
parties to the conflict in #Yemen.
Impunity for crimes committed against journalists means the failure of states to achieve justice and redress in cases of violations against journalists, most notably harassment, threats, assaults, arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance and murder.
In conjunction with the International Day to End Impunity, Musalaa Organization for Human Rights and a number of civil society organizations in Yemen are calling for accountability for violations against journalists, and for the protection of journalists in Yemen as civilians.
