Two civilians were killed and 14 others, including women and children, were wounded in a missile attack on Marib City

Musaala Organization for Human Rights strongly condemns the bombing that targeted the city of Marib this morning by the Houthi group. The attack targeted residential neighborhoods and displacement camps using missiles and drones and, according to preliminary reports, resulted in the killing of two civilians and the injury of 14 others, including women and children.

The targeting of Marib City, which hosts hundreds of thousands of civilians and displaced persons fleeing the conflict, and the targeting of displacement camps in particular, constitutes a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law and reflects a clear disregard for the lives of civilians and the protection afforded to them under international law.

Musaala Organization for Human Rights affirms that targeting civilians and civilian objects, including displacement camps, constitutes one of the most serious violations affecting the right to life and security and requires investigation, accountability, and the prosecution of those responsible in accordance with international law.

The organization notes that this incident comes in the context of dozens of incidents documented over the past years, in which the Houthi group, according to information monitored and documented by the organization, has employed various methods to target civilians and displacement camps, including the use of ballistic missiles, Katyusha rockets, artillery, and drones. These attacks have repeatedly placed the lives of civilians, including women, children, and displaced persons, at risk.

Musaala Organization for Human Rights renews its call for respect for the rules of international humanitarian law, an end to the targeting of civilians and civilian objects, and the adoption of all necessary measures to protect civilians and displaced persons. It also calls for independent and transparent investigations into all violations and for those responsible to be held accountable, ensuring that perpetrators of serious violations do not enjoy impunity.
